What was sharedrop used for before being acquired? Never heard about it before

p2p file transfer without accounts. You just sent a link or scanned a qr code and nos you were connected. Always used it for vms. I’ve been using pairdrop.net as a replacement

I recommend sendme. It’s a p2p file transfer system run on top of the hole-punching iroh. No port forwarding required from either side. And iroh is e2e encrypted.

          Not the same:

          • sendme requires an install. Sharecrop was browser based. Which also increases security
          • the transfer requires a id I’d have to copy to the VM by hand each time I want to transfer. Sharedrop was a single code for the whole session
