Two people are in hospital following an explosion in a central Wellington apartment building on Friday afternoon.
“When crews investigated they found there’d been an explosion in one of the apartments, and so we are now investigating the cause of that explosion.”
Gas leak?
There’s been a few notable gas leaks recently - the other day a street in Petone was closed, and I seem to recall there was an evacuation of some sort somewhere a day or so prior to that.
Great, as if having all 3 waters running down the street wasn’t bad enough.

All completely unrelated but interesting, to me at least, nonetheless.
Or P lab. Those are pretty much the two options.
The thought crossed my mind, but who runs a P lab in an apartment in the middle of Wellington?
Yeah, but explosions from gas leaks are equally rare so I guess we just have to see if they publish results of the investigation.
