It’s kinda ironic that all the source parts links are for Amazon in order to build a device which doesn’t use Amazon, but I suppose that’s just the most readily available resource :-)
Great concept though. I honestly hate most “smart” doorbells but a homebrew one sounds like a cool idea

It’s because the author (OP) gets money when people buy those parts using those links (as the links have the
tag=thatguy0ec-20
parameter in the query string).
Great stuff. Thanks!
Hey, this is excellent. I was looking to do something like this a few months ago. Bought a few ESP devices to mess with, but never got around to it. I might try it out now, though, using your guide. Thank you!
Fun stuff, although I wonder how weather proof this would be — my door bell is outside, with nothing in terms of shielding from the elements.
I also liked the pi-as-a-travel-router, that gave me a solid idea!
Thoughts on the right hardware for a more robust camera to stream RTSP?
If you can get your hands on one, a Raspberry Pi Zero 2 W with the official Pi Camera Module 3 is a great solution but it lacks the ESPHome integration.
