Taking the final horcrux to Glamour Shots first.
Newborns do be ugly aliens.
How did you get my baby photos?!
I played enough Witcher 3 to know what to do.
If a developing fetus looks anything like this or is anywhere near that large after a month, that’s not a baby it’s a demon or some shit.
Oh, you meant an actual baby after birth. Ok, I get you now.
A fetus and a baby are not exactly the same thing, especially only a month in.
If your baby has that many teeth at that age, there is something wrong
Besides: it’s not their problem that you can’t empathize with people who are feeling more love and joy than you could ever imagine.
feeling more love and joy
How is this related to posting pictures online?
The meme isn’t about posting photos online, but about newborn photoshoots.
Another genre similar to celebretity maternity photo shoots?
In that they’re both photos surrounding the birth of a baby. Something that most people experiencing view as a precious and fleeting time they’d like to have nice pictures of.
So because you don’t understand which feelings this almost blind ugly little meatbag in that photo represents, there will be those who do and who will share the joy, making the world a little less depressing as fuck. Which is a benefit. But of course,. because you can’t understand that, no one possibly can.
I don’t think pictures of minors should be posted online.
You do you tho
I wholeheartedly agree, just for different reasons than presented here. Yet, especially as long as they look like moles, posting them isn’t that bad.
I’ve never posted pictures of my child online. I don’t even post them on private chats. Just via my immich instance to his grandmas and aunts.
Lemmy really hates people posting baby pictures. Because a newborn can’t give consent. We all look like the same weird alien meatvblobs anyway when we come out, it’s not like it’s somehow identifiable. But can’t consent. I’m a bit surprised Lemmy isn’t anti-abortion for this reason.
In fact in some jurisdictions, are minors even allowed to give such consent? If no, then you would have to remove all pictures of anyone younger than adulthood from the internet.
For child actors, presumably it is the parents who give permission to the producers to use their child’s image. So any tv show, movie or commercial with kids should also be wrong for that reason.
That minors can’t consent to anything, even when supported by a consenting guardian, is pretty extreme, but I kinda agree with most of what you say here.

How are your hobbies doing? Been anywhere interesting lately? Sleep good?
A friend of mine has a baby and he’s certainly in that joy category. I guess it shouldn’t surprise me because it was essential for the survival of the species, but I’m still surprised that people like babies. Kids can be cute when they’re old enough to talk and use the toilet, and even then they’re only cute if they’re the charming kids-say-the-darnest-things sort and not the tantrum-throwing sort. Meanwhile puppies and kittens are cute from the moment they’re born.
(Why do humans babies make such horrible sounds when they need something? A puppy whimpering makes me want to give it whatever it’s asking for. A baby crying makes me angry. I suppose the crying is harder to simply ignore.)

I see you haven’t had to stimulate a newborn kitten’s ass to get it to poop.
I had to do a lot for my dog that could be considered gross in an abstract sense but it never bothered me much. I suppose that was because he was my cute dog and not just because he was a cute dog, but being a cute dog certainly helped. It’s notable that I did not feel that same way about my little sister when I was 11 and she was born. She’s a great person now but I didn’t like helping take care of her even though I didn’t have to do it much; I think that’s a big reason why I don’t have my own children.
I’m glad that there are people convinced that the most misery you can feel is worth all the “joy”
What misery are we talking about?
