Our neighbor grew peppermint in some pots but the plants are happily growing to everywhere so they grew from his side to our side.
Today I brought my scissors and cut off a bunch of them and made peppermint tea marrocean style.
So first brew a bit of green tea which we got from some work colleagues of my partner from China. Then throw away the first tea brewed because it has some flavors we don’t like. After that put it as much peppermint as fitts in and put a rediciolous amount of sugar on top. Put boiling water on it and brew for some time.
Both hot and cold it’s like drinking peppermint candy, delicious!
Eventually, your entire yard will be mint.
Mint will do that. It spreads readily by shooting vines.
Mint is known for being an invasive species in the garden if not well contained. I prefer mint leaves with camomile instead of gunpowder, it is my go to when having anxiety attacks.
Peppermint isn’t used in Moroccan tea faik, spearmint is and has quite a different taste. Still…spear or peppermint, both delicious ingredients.
Aah, that’s why it tastes a bit differently! I always wondered why it tastes differently outside of Marocco.
Good luck if you want to get rid of it. Mint is a pest. That’s why you never, ever plant it in the garden. Always plant it in a pot that is not in contact with the garden soil.
How are fresh leaves vs dry leaves when making tea?
Fresh tastes much more intense. I really never liked it from dry leaves but love it from fresh.
Oh nice. I am trying to grow some mint (in my apt) for some fresh stuff but I have a big bag of dry leaves that I enjoy making tea with.
Peppermint tea is my go to for soothing IBS discomfort.
I brew straight peppermint tea as well, I find it amazing all around. Refreshing, good on the tummy, great hot or iced, and you can have it any time of day for any reason! It’s my goto. No sugar needed. It’s perfect as is.
We used to make peppermint sun tea when I was a kid. Put a bunch of peppermint and water in a glass jar. Stick it in a sunny spot for a while. Enjoy. (Can add sugar if that’s your thing.)
