This isn’t to say it will happen, but it can happen. He doesn’t need an amendment. That’s only required if you pretend like rules and norms are the only way things get done. They’re only as useful as the people willing to stand against him when he breaks them are. If people aren’t ready to stop him then there’s no limits.
And you’re so sure that you’re safe, just because you know you were born in the right place at the right time that can never fall.
Even if it isn’t Trump in the position, their plan is to take over. Yeah, Trump is old. It wouldn’t be the first time an old man has grasped for power and succeeded. You would do well to learn from history and recognize that nothing is permanent, lest you learn to regret not knowing so.
I do not suspect Trump successfully destroys our democracy, but I’m also not so certain in that as to not caution others to make preparations in case they’re necessary. Hopefully they’re not, but it can only hurt to not be ready.
