Food waste and obesity are problems.

Probably the better solution is more granular serving sizes with corresponding prices. Like pay less to get less.

That’s a good option. I remember having a friend that ordered the kid’s size meal at certain restaurants because she didn’t eat that much.

What I used to do (and I know this isn’t an option for everyone) is that I took the leftovers home with me, or for later, no need to waste perfectly good food.

I do that at pizza places when it’s an option. Sometimes a small pizza can be 1500 calories, that’s too much. Kids will often be less oil and salt too which I prefer for health and taste reasons.

Food waste isn’t as big a problem as people seeking to profit off basic necessities like eating.

People don’t go hungry because you didn’t eat all your fries, they go hungry because it’s not “economical” to feed them.

the problem is food cost is more often than not the least expensive cost of a restaurant. especially a fast food restaurant. So giving you a large Fri vs small. is so small for them it’s not even noticeable from their cost. their loss comes from two things the sizes and price difference are only their to get you to buy the one with the beter profit margin. small and medium are only there to make you feel like you got value from buying the large. it cost more for the card stock Fri container than it does for the Fries.

Or they don’t give a shit and chips are cheap to make.

Just don’t eat them all, hungry children in India or whatever your mother told you to get you to eat your green beans aren’t starving just because you don’t eat everything in front of you.

      Bro.
How about giving people the option to pay less for smaller portions? Is that not allowed for some reason? I’m a small guy, and every restaurant I visit in the west pretty much charges me double and gives me twice as much food as I could possibly handle. It sucks when traveling, because I can’t exactly just take it home.

I’ve never been to a fast food place that didn’t have multiple serving sizes available for their fries.

It’s not hard to order a smaller size if you know you’re not hungry enough for a larger portion.

Well I usually don’t eat at McDonald’s, but I do settle for appetizers more often than I would like to.

I mean. They just spam the plate with chips. I don’t want to be fat like. Smaller portions should be an option.

I don’t believe I’ve ever eaten at a fast food place that didn’t have different sizes of fry orders available.

You’ve never eaten at Five Guys… though I guess that’s kind of nebulous in terms of being fast food.

Five guys have different sizes, it’s just that the smallest size is “fuckloads of chips” and then they go up from there.

Bro, you couldn’t ask them for a bag to take it back home with you? Instead you threw it away? Now that’s the infuriating bit.

It doesn’t look small, but it looks fairly normal and pretty much just fulfilling for lunch. The fries bag seems almost full… is this the before picture? How many pieces of chicken were there?

I actually sympathize. My wife and I are small, so when we eat out, it’s usually just an appetizer and a main dish that we share, and then we still need to ask for a box.

My friends love eating out with me because half of my food usually makes its way to their plate and sometimes they get to finish my beer.

Here’s a tip. Take those fries home and stick them in the fridge. Fry them up in an omelette later.
