Season’s greetings, physical media lovers! Christmas is almost upon us. Hopefully we’ve all been good little boys and girls and our stockings will be stuffed with high definition film goodness!

What are you buying others or just for yourself as a sneaky little present? I’m sure you deserve it!

I’ve just received my copy of Arrow Video’s rather nice release of Tremors 2: Aftershocks.

I have another film currently in the postal system, but I’ll save that for another post.

December is a busy month for films, and I wish I had the money! The excellent Prey has just been released, with Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny and Titanic just around the corner.

This is going slightly off track for this community but come December 15th, we’ll finally have a look at The Abyss, True Lies and Aliens in their new 4K editions via digital services, the physical discs will arrive in March.

I kind of went a little nuts during the Black Friday sales. I ended up picking up Criterion for 50% off from Barnes & Noble, Shout during their sale, Crunchyroll during theirs, Amazon in general… 4K where available, otherwise Blu-ray.

    • Arsenic & Old Lace
    • Bringing Up Baby
    • Dirty Rotten Scoundrels
    • Eraserhead
    • Explorers
    • Gappa: The Triphibian Monster
    • Glengarry Glen Ross
    • Human Nature
    • Lion of the Desert
    • The Marx Brothers: Silver Screen Collection
    • Mean Streets
    • The Message
    • Portrait of a Lady on Fire
    • The Ranown Westerns

…and, uh, every single remaining Gundam series I didn’t own already. (What? I like giant robots, and it was a great sale 😄)

A trawl around a local town and I picked up Bohemian Rhapsody (Blu-ray) and Collateral Damage for a pound. I wasn’t going to get the Arnie film, but I couldn’t remember if I had seen it or not. It comes with deleted scenes, director’s commentary and a few featurettes.

There is also a commentary from Arnie, but that’s only on the DVD-ROM portion of the disc. It will be interesting to see if I can still access it somehow. I’m hoping it’s just some obscure audio format that VLC can play without issues. :-)

Tenet was from Amazon for £6. I recently watched it for the first time with my headphones on, concentrated hard to hear the dialogue, and fucking loved it!

The black friday stuff is still coming in. The latest was the Sonny Chiba double-whammy of The Executioner Collection and The Streetfighter Trilogy from Arrow UK. No customs fees either! ❤️ I hope my Mondo Macabro order will land this side of the new year with the Bollywood horror box set and a spanish ’giallo’ Shadow of death. I suspect my Vinegar Syndrome and Severin hauls will land next year.

Arrow’s The Warriors release for me. I also bought some Radiance box sets, Franco Nero and Dino Risi.

Out with the Mrs again, searching the charity shops of another nearby town. Unfortunately, this one was a bit of a dud.

I picked up this lovely digibook edition of Interstellar (£3 CEX). It contains a sample of the “making of” book inside. I wasn’t a big fan when I first watched this, but as a Nolan nut, I’ve got a feeling I’ll enjoy it more second time around.

The Mrs is getting fed up with films coming and going from streaming services, so she’s starting her own collection. Trolls, £1.

Another quick purchase. After the AI upscale debacle from Mr James Cameron, I’ve decided to catch up on his filmography.

I bought The Terminator on Blu-ray. I already have this on Blu-ray but it’s one of the very early releases so the picture isn’t spectacular.
