Nobody is going to drop the quote from Orwell’s 1984? (sigh) I guess it’s true, people HAVE stopped reading. 😞
“‘War is Peace’, ‘Freedom is Slavery’ and ‘Ignorance is Strength’”

What the column has you do is disable Gemini access in Mail, but it is still on for search.

I did all that ages ago and re-confirmed, it’s still all disabled…
But Gemini persists:

Throwing sod in a back yard. I’ll never do that again.
1890s…
There’s a documentary about it:
There was even a sequel:
Who doesn’t enjoy wood furniture? 😉

“Portland, y’all want Portland.”

Thanks! I appreciate it!
I specifically wanted a brass scope and it was either that or something that wasn’t really functional. 😞
I mean, .44 mag is .44 mag, but it also weighs almost 6 pounds.
I’m not PERSONALLY a fan of FDE, but the contrast looks good and the build looks solid!
I’m a wood and brass kind of guy. 😉

I had to call THREE hospitals to get a CT scan in a reasonable amount of time. First one said “April” and I was like “No.”
2nd one said 2/18 which is better, but still 29 days out and I don’t want to sit and ruminate on the diagnosis that long.
3rd one? 1 week. 1/27! I think that’s about as good as I can get.

After book 4 I’d read, at a minimum, Insomnia and Hearts in Atlantis. Insomnia came out in the (FIVE YEAR!) gap between 3 and 4. Hearts in Atlantis shortly after 4.
But the Stand is never a bad choice!
Fair warning, I didn’t think books 5-7 were as good as the first four. He stops doing the flashbacks to young Roland and there are gaps in that story now.

Thanks Doug!

The Pedant in the Kitchen by Julian Barnes.
I heard his last book (or what he claims is his last book) “Departure(s)” is out today and looked up what other stuff he’s done, this one caught my eye being a very snarky collection of essays about cooking and cookbook authors.

Oh boy, you are in for a RIDE. How far into it are you?
Beyond the 8 books of the Dark Tower proper, there are a BUNCH of books that touch that part of the King Universe. Eyes of the Dragon, It, Insomnia, Desperation and the Regulators, Rose Madder, Hearts in Atlantis, The Talisman (indirectly), Black House (Talisman sequel, directly connects it together), The Stand, The Shining, Salem’s Lot. Fairy Tale is similar enough, but not directly related.
There’s a 3rd Talisman book coming this year as well.
I mean in the actual article, you would have thought one of the professionals would have dropped it. 😉
