artporn@piefed.social•Two Cows and a Young Bull beside a Fence in a Meadow by Paulus Potter (1647)English
3·19 小时前Whenever I see a painting like this, seemingly just a scene from the daily life of an era, I wonder if it would have spoken symbolically to the people of that era? Like, do the dead tree and the fence symbolize something? I wouldn’t know but I feel bad for the artist that most contemporary folks have lost the ability to recognize what would have been obvious to them. Or then again, maybe this is just three cows and a tree.
Also the detail in the cows’ fur is amazing.
Thanks for the share.

Oooh. I use Rainbow Tables CSV extension in VS Code too. It’s a great help!
Happy Spring to you too, @[email protected] .
Ivan Ivanovich Shishkin (Russian: Иван Иванович Шишкин; 25 January [O.S. 13 January] 1832 – 20 March [O.S. 8 March] 1898) was a Russian landscape painter and graphic artist, one of the most famous landscape painters of the post-reform era, and the creator of the iconic painting Morning in a Pine Forest. He was an academician (from 1865), professor (from 1873) and full member (from 1893, under the new charter) of the Imperial Academy of Arts, as well as a professor and head of the landscape workshop at the Higher Art School (1894–1895). He was also one of the founding members of the Peredvizhniki movement (from 1870).
Making those photo books is so easy now. Gonna try this with my adult kid next.
Being privacy conscious is exhausting, yes.

Selfhosted@lemmy.world•Introducing Habitat - A Social Platform for Local CommunitiesEnglish
12·3 天前Hi @[email protected] , I really love this idea and really appreciate you taking on this big task.
I can see it replacing the stand-alone web site I run now for a local group, but I have a couple of questions before I go install the app and try it out.
- Do you have a list of existing instances somewhere? I looked around in your github and blog site, and could not find that.
- How do you keep the content that gets posted to stick to the local topic? I.e., if I set up a site for my small city, what’s to stop someone from spamming posts about the big city nearby? Or a big city plumber from advertising their services?
- How do admins deal with spam / negative content getting posted? Once a site takes off, this is a real problem, I hope you’re thinking about how to solve.
Again, thanks.
Good to know, thanks.

Yah, I just read the History section of the OO wikipedia page, and it mentions that from the start. I’m not someone with a knee jerk reaction to “Russian” but it’s worth considering. Thanks.
The question then is: Does CP replacing the server-side code with their own resolve this concern, or is there still a risk there? Man, nothing is simple.
