Technology@lemmy.world•OpenAI says dead teen violated TOS when he used ChatGPT to plan suicide - Ars TechnicaEnglish
57·4 days agoThat would imply that he wasn’t suicidal before. If chatgpt didn’t exist he would just use Google.

Hardware@lemmy.world•Google tells employees it must double capacity every 6 months to meet AI demandEnglish
23·10 days agoPretty much everyone I know uses AI daily, so there definitely is demand for it. You’re living in an information bubble and don’t know how commonplace it truly is.

Technology@lemmy.world•Zoox will let public riders use its robotaxis in San FranciscoEnglish
7·13 days agoI bet that if they use the correct technologies (LIDAR and laser guidance systems), they would be a lot safer than regular drivers. Of course, computers make mistakes, but humans also don’t have the best track record in terms of driving safety. You’re technically not wrong though.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Looking for a one-time paid (non-subscription) TTS program for android
1·17 days agoFor me with the high models it takes like 20-30 second pauses and if the text is long enough then it just stops completely.
Found it! It’s under the subscriptions tab.
Thanks for the recommendation!

Television@piefed.social•Warner Bros. Discovery Believes HBO Max Is in Good Shape, No Matter What Happens to the Company
2·23 days agoHBO is in good shape in terms of shows, but I absolutely think some merges will need to be made for the convenience of the end user. There are so many different streaming services that it makes it utterly impossible to watch anything without resorting to piracy. I’m hoping that the industry slowly rocks into place.
I tried CalyxOS, but couldn’t get some apps I needed to work so I’m back on the default software. I’d recommend CalyxOS anyway though, but now that I read that they are on pause, you can maybe go with LineageOS.

Technology@lemmy.world•The Big Short Guy Just Bet $1 Billion That the AI Bubble PopsEnglish
23·25 days agoWhat a shitty take. Imagine betting on something with a poor human rights record and countless privacy violation. America may have it’s faults, but it will get ironed out like it always does. I’m hoping for everybody’s sake that China doesn’t become the new global superpower. America has the soft power thing down to the t at least.
As for the other claims you made, source?
In my humble opinion Bush kind of fucked America up, but that is fixable.
I know that it is completely typical for neurodivergent people to enjoy the dark, but it’s quite the opposite for me for some reason. I need my room to be as bright as the sun (metaphorically speaking).
Been doing lots of reading and shopping for even more interesting books. Hung out with friends yesterday. Life is good and pretty chill right now.
