minus-square@[email protected]linkfedilink3•4 months agoI suspect Intuit is making money off of the information it gets when people file taxes through TurboTax. Free Federal filing is also a big advertisement for their state filing options and audit support.

The use cases covered by this were already covered by the free tier on services like TurboTax. They’re not going to lose a dime.
