Boston City Council President Ruthzee Louijeune is petitioning to implement a ranked choice voting system for city elections starting in 2027. But incorporating ranked choice into Boston’s non-partisan preliminary election system for mayor and city council is a little different than the system Massachusetts voters rejected in 2020.
