“Christians, get out and vote, just this time,” Trump exclaimed to a cheering crowd in West Palm Beach, Fla.

“You won’t have to do it anymore. Four more years, you know what, it will be fixed, it will be fine, you won’t have to vote anymore, my beautiful Christians” he added.

“I love you Christians. I’m a Christian. I love you, get out, you gotta get out and vote. In four years, you don’t have to vote again, we’ll have it fixed so good you’re not going to have to vote,” Trump said.

Does he realize the sheer volume of liberal Christians out there?

I don’t hear him say that, unless you count Trump himself as a god. He’s using religion to gather votes but i dont see him as religious.

Oh Trump is as religious as a piece of wet paper. He’s just dog-whistling Christian conservatives into voting for him in the hope they can have their theocracy.

A theocracy isn’t literally ruled by a god but by people claiming to represent one (like the Vatican or Taliban Afghanistan).

We already knew he was planning to remove democracy. I’m hoping that his call to vote will get all the liberal Christians to vote too, specifically to prevent him from eliminating democracy.

His call to vote should get everybody to vote. Before this, the thread was more of a guess or maybe a joke. This just got serious and dangerous

Lots of ‘em. You just hear from the ones who like to call attention to themselves.

Something else to consider - from my experience the majority of christians don’t make it their entire identity. After all, do not pray for others to see, etc. etc.

People you know to just be regular peeps who are pro choice have a decent chance of being christian, just the shut up and love thy neighbor type, as opposed to the “LOOK AT ME, IM SO CHRISTIAN” type.

So there are two axis in which people can be overlooked and quiet - one for religious affiliation, one for their stance on abortion.

Jon Ronson’s podcast miniseries on the culture wars talk about when abortion was adopted by the evangelical movement. It had a lot to do with some prominent pastors’ son regretting an abortion. I don’t remember the specifics, but that miniseries was great.
