All basic needs met just for existing!, Being a domesticated animal actually does seem like it beats the hell out of wild life…

Course I suppose it depends on what animal what context. Obviously a workhorse, or any food animals would be pretty horrific. I’d imagine though zoo animals, pets, etc… would be pretty superior lifes than even humans carve out for themselves.

While yeah also an insane horror movie plot if “when they turn 40, they walk into that barn and never come out”.

okay so the cool thing is that humans are effectively self-domesticated, there are no “wild” humans and haven’t been any for at least hundreds of thousands of years, and we might even have self-domesticated before becoming anatomically modern humans!

Ancient paleolithic hunter-gatherers wouldn’t just leave people to starve or shit like that, if you couldn’t do any work your tribe would still take care of you because it would be fucking disgusting not to, there’s archeological evidence of individuals who would have been outright carried around and hand-fed who survived for many years after their injuries!

the fact that people in the modern age have to worry about getting enough food to survive is fucking insane, if our ancestors saw what we’re doing they’d kill themselves out of shame and disgust.
