      No, he kicked out a figure head fascist. I guarantee for six months after they take office they’ll come up with excuses for why Orban’s cronies shouldn’t be removed from their appointed positions, how they’re victims in all this taken in by said fascist, and why nothing of substance should change.

      Like liberals always do.

      The ratchet once again finds a resting position before the next crank.

        Not every country’s politics is like the US. Please read up on Hungary in the past 2 years and you might get less cynical.

        There is no “ratchet” in Hungary. It literally could not get worse save for going full-on Belarus. And the people, the party and even the electorate behind Magyar are people who mostly haven’t been in politics yet. The “ratchet” liberal party has been kicked out of politics this election along with the government. Explicitly because they were the do-nothing party.

        Tisza can’t afford to be that.

          I did not ‘gloss over’ actual fascists, I’m simply not a naive optimist that believes repeating history is going to result in a different outcome.

          The fact you think a single person runs a movement or ideology shows you have no possible inkling of an idea of what you’re talking about. The Nazis didn’t die off because Hitler (appointed by a liberal btw) killed himself. They didn’t die off period. Regardless of their furher.

          When trump dies or loses favor, his movement will 100% still be active and a domineering force in the US.

          When Orban gets out of office, if he leaves peacefully, his movement will still be in office across the country and still have outsized political influence resulting it being ‘politically unsafe’ to undo most of his damage.

          This is true no matter the fascist. For fuck’s sake Italy elected a fascist party candidate relative of Mussolini – specifically because it’s not ‘hero worship’ that defines fascism.

          Until you understand the mechanisms and causes of fascism you will be doomed to repeat the cycle of liberalism -> fascism -> liberalism. Forever, or at least until a strong enough communist uprising happens and kicks out the fascists.

            Fidesz suffered a crushing defeat, actually.

            You’re not only showing your ignorance but also you’re just plain wrong. And if everyone who isn’t a bolshevik is a fascist to you, then you don’t understand fascism as well as you think you do.

            Also, you’re never gonna get enough people to participate in your “uprising” if you’re calling them all fascists for believing in democratic process. You’re doing more harm to socialism and leftism in general by making us look like the insane caricatures the right wing tries to paint us as.
