Formerly chapo.chat and r/chapotraphouse, they are a tankie instance that frequently brigades threads that mention them, and engage in harassment campaign against anyone who disagrees with them. They also frequently praise and defend Russia and China, two genocidal dictatorships in which one is engaging in an illegal war against ukraine and china has rampant human rights abuses. Since there are good faith users on that instance, they are more of a hesitation than a censure.

    So this account was made an hour ago by someone who claims to be an “Anonymous hate researcher that has worked with top academic researchers worldwide on combating hate on social media! Here to document hesitant and bad faith nazi instances!”

    Honestly some of the other summaries might be helpful for our mods to know if there are transphobic or creepy instances worth monitoring and potentially defederating from. And credit where it is due, they didn’t actually tell folks to defederate us, there is stronger criticism for other instances in their work thus far. I would dispute their assessment of us but I think it is in good faith.

      Posting hexbear.net to [email protected] is already a call to block. This isn’t a place to post a review of Fediverse instances, it’s a place to request that specific Fediverse instances be blocked.

        There is a contradiction then. They are recommending outright censure in other posts and clarifying a more mild stance on some, like ours. Maybe they can clarify.
