Given that Israel can’t do anything without at least tacit American support (given in the form of weapons and aid), pressure on the US government accomplishes a lot.

Showing support and unity is always helpful and also together puts greater pressure on the federal government.
maybe 100+ years ago before the rust belt swallowed that part of the country. nothing that happens in Detroit matters
