Analysts say that Hamas joining the PLO would be a significant development, given that it could potentially unify the Palestinian factions and create a representative government. But despite the PLO’s recognition of Israel, Hamas joining the bloc wouldn’t mean that it would automatically acknowledge it.
Like what? Dropping support for Israel so Russia could expand its influence in the region by supporting Israel?
Russia is using Palestineans against western governments. Even if Israel betrayed America, Russia might not be able or even willing to support them the way the US has done. Sanctions are still in play and Israel is too small to jump into the deep end like that.
Then again after killing Navalny there’s no going back to a better system in the Russian federation and if they’re going all-in on the war path then they might decide setting up nuclear bases in or around Israel is worth the expense if it gives them leverage over American energy partners.
Israel is a black hole for influence around the middle east. Yeah they’re a central base for regional force projection but nobody likes them and the only productive partnership to be had between them and sanctions involves the theft and development of oil fields off the Gaza coast. Happens to dovetail exactly with what the Russian federation has been trying to get at under Ukraine for 25 months now.
By the way, the Hunter Biden informant that was indicted for ties to Russian intelligence was embedded at Burisma, which is… Drumroll please… An energy company. Burisma was so deeply infiltrated by Russian intelligence that US House Republicans felt compelled to scrub that same informant’s name from their charging documents.
