This might be a stupid question but does anyone know:

  • if it’s possible to directly plug in usb-c cables into the expansion card ports?

Yeah sure. The USB-C card is essentially an extender meant to reduce the ware and tear on the motherboards ports and make it flush.

ahhh you’re right I forgot about that

hmm guess buying the expansion ports might still be better for me when thinking about the long term use then

      thanks!🤗 +1

more or less a lot of the decisions of ports ultimately is because of durability. its why some people are wondering why the audio jack wasnt included and integrated into the FW16. the answer is that if it breaks, you can replace it easily. (despite how wasteful it sounds to use a port on audio)

one additional thing I realized is that since each port can basically be detached, maintaining/cleaning them will be easier which is great!

          • blowing out each port with canned air.

can’t tell you how many customers I’ve had that had gunk build up in all their usb ports😬🤢

Sounds like a smokers house. I’ve repaired some gnarly desktops from people who based on the inside of their computer A) smoked like a chimney and B) don’t change their air filters.
