Meta turns on third-party interoperability for Messenger and WhatsApp users to comply with the Digital Markets Act (DMA), but only in Europe and if Signal's protocol is used.
Really hope signal stays disconnected.
IMO this is more more facebooks attempt at retaining people on their platform as signal and others grow, showing users that truly private alternatives exist and are feature rich.
the good news is Signal is getting more popular with this because whatsapp is ubiquitous and mandatory app in many countries such as India and Brazil and also it is hard to live without Whatsapp. Bad news is: you know Facebook.

Signal has stated they won’t be connecting with WhatsApp/Meta as it would reduce their user’s privacy.
