The US prison system is such a blemish on humanity and we kinda just pretend it’s normal.
I mean Americans do. The rest of us look on in absolute horror.
Don’t get me wrong the private prisons here are an absolute shit show as well but at least they get their contract terminated when it comes to light.
Private prisons only house 8% of US prisoners.
The stories you hear are of government run prisons.
This just in. Free market prisons have better conditions at competitive rates. /s
