I find it kind of hilarious and ingenious that the burglars made the effort to cover the hole with plywood so as not to leave climate control traces.
This is crazy. How do they not have multiple armed guards on site 24/7.
Or heavily layered security which prevents even a small group of internal people from doing something like this (which would also prevent this kind of scenario).
This almost has to be an inside job. I can’t imagine a rando would know a plain Jane looking building like that would have 30 million in it even with armored trucks parked there. Retail is so credit card heavy this must have been piling up a while.
Got dang! I wish I could steal 30 million dollars! It’s crazy that they went in through the roof. Back when I worked construction it occurred to me how effective it would be to just sawsall my way through a roof if I ever wanted to burglarize anything. But I wasn’t connected enough to know of any buildings with $30M in them.
This heist beat even the notorious Lufthansa heist, shown in the Goodfellas movie, which was the largest heist of all time for a very long time. Adjusted for inflation, that heist was worth $27.6M.
