based on the Price History this is a new $30 CAD price drop,
afaik PowerColor’s a reputable Taiwanese manufacturer and when considering the current GPU market this seems like a pretty good deal👍
For relevance: $720 USD approximately = $979 CAD as of April 16, 2024 @20:38 UTC
For best raw performance (rasterization):
- the 7900 XT is the better buy as it’s average performance beats the 4070 Ti.
For best Raytracing performance:
- the 4070 Ti is still the better buy.
For best overall price to performance comparison (when factoring in Windows & Linux):
- the 7900 XT makes the most sense:
- Linux distros are close to parity due to Valve’s positive influence with the Steam deck which helped rally Linux driver+compatibility development (news provided below)
- due to FOSS AMD drivers, AMD GPUs currently provides the best OS flexibility in comparison to NVIDIA’s proprietary drivers and current focus on AI technologies
- this would also save users $260 or $189 CAD (before tax) if a Windows Pro or Home license isn’t required.
- As Windows 10 is EOL, pricing for W11 is used here
- desktop Linux OS’s are free
Notable Disadvantages (within the same price class):
- PowerColor only provides a 2 year warranty for the 7900 XT
whereas for the 4070 Ti:- Gigabyte provides a 4 year warranty
- MSI provides a 3 year warranty

Not sure if there’s still a price drop on the XTX but back when the 4080 supers were dropping I saw it getting discounted for a pretty good deal as well
