Hello Everyone,

I keep saying I only play one game at a time, but I keep starting multiple games. Generally, my rule is one big game, with one smaller game, to keep things fresh. Recently started playing a bit of multiplayer, so added one multiplayer game too. Going to keep it like this now.

  • Still playing New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe. Playing it slowly, reached the Water world (don’t remember the name), chose it over the snow one, will play that after clearing water one.
  • Resumed my play-through of Dragon Quest XI, I have assembled the full party, and am about 25 or so hours in. Going to play this regularly now, as my primary game.
  • Resumed Monster Hunter: World. Took a break of couple of weeks, now catching up to my friends, will most probably just play it as MP game, with some session here and there to grind / farm some specific gear or something.

Other than these, some smaller, side games:

  • minit, I finished the game. It’s a small, adventure game in black and white, where each run is exactly 1 minute long. Any puzzle you solve or item you obtain remain like that, but you die after 60 seconds, and respawn at your home (or one of the other specified location, if you reach them). You can finish the game in 3-4 hours. I just tried it on a whim, but really enjoyed it. If you don’t mind the graphics and such games, you should definitely try it.
  • barato: I was somewhat interested in Vampire Survivors coming to Switch this month, but when I posted about barato, people praised it, and I noticed the “Overwhelmingly Positive” on steam, which intrigued me. Then some more comments on the launch trailer I posted yesterday… long story short, I got the game. And it’s very addicting. Though, embarrassingly I still haven’t been able to complete a full run. I would be feeling very OP, and the my overconfidence would get me killed. This is going to be, “in-bed-before-sleep” game.

See, just one game at a time!

So, what have you all been playing?

I grabbed the entire PIKMIN series on Switch and will start playing them this weekend. I’m very excited, I’ve never played any of them!

A Link Between Worlds… I don’t think I have played that one. It’s not available on Switch, right? I played A Link to the Past, and read about Link Between Worlds, but haven’t played it yet.

From what I have heard, it’s a pretty good game. This and A Link to the Past, are considered some of the best 2D Zelda games. So, a good one to start with.

      How are you enjoying it?

I think that it is available only on all 3DS editions.

I like how it allows you to choose in wich order you want to play dungeons. Wall merging mechanic is great, it creates some good puzzles. It is fast paced so it was able to show me what the series is all about very quickly and now I want to play other games in the series.

Nice! I recently played a few matches. Trying the new maps, and it’s nice to have so much more variety.

It’s a great game for playing with family and kids. Specially with the assist features. Even my little one enjoys playing it.

That’s nice! The only problem with introducing the kids to games, is that they want to take the controller even when you are playing. 😀

Get her Yoshi’s Crafted World, and Rayman Legends next, both are really fun, and not too difficult. Specially in co-op.

        Mirrored and 200ccm mostly.

But driving latest meta and pulling down right stick to break when drifting helps me a lot.

Also when first and blue shell is incoming, try to hit something or fall down. Recovery is much shorter then.

Currently playing 2 games right now. Absolutely loving them both.

    • The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Easily one of the best games I’ve ever played. I’ve avoided finishing the story to draw out the thematic end to the game (I know you can keep playing afterwards but I want the story ending to be my ending, it’s like saving your last bite of food to be something particular). Currently exploring, I absolutely love exploring in this game. I can’t get enough, even after hundreds of hours in BotW, I’m never gonna be sick of exploring this hyrule map. There are STILL surprises everywhere that makes it feel so very new.

    • Bayonetta 3 This shit goes so hard. I mean what the fuck. I never played 1 and 2 but the amount of creative freedom in each fight, combined with the challenge, the style oozing out of the seams of the game. The core gameplay is so tight and excellent BUT THEN YOU GOT FUCKIN KAIJU BATTLES OVER TOKYO AND THEN SUDDENTLY ITS A 2D STEALTH GAME, AND THEN IT’S A CEL SHADED PUZZLE GAME. AND THEN YOU’RE A FUCKING CHOO CHOO TRAIN. I can’t get enough.

Completely agreed, it’s a wonderful game.

As for Bayonetta, I have only played the first one, and I have heard 2nd one (and then 3rd) improves on every single aspect of it. So going to play it sometime soon.

Oracle of Ages. I never had the chance to play it before, since I didn’t have a Game Boy, but when it was announced for the Switch Online, the history and the connection between the games grabbed my attention.

Been flipping between Tears if the Kingdom and Pikmin 4 at the moment. I’ve beaten the main story in Zelda and just finding plenty of side quests to do and exploring the rest of the map. And slowly getting near the end of Pikmin. I’ve got 5 areas 100% and chipping away at the others. Then there also our weekly Smash evening on Saturday with some fellow players.

Totk and Pikmin 4, a great combination. How are you liking Pikmin 4?

Smash evenings sounds really fun. I don’t know enough Nintendo people in real life, but I should get the ones I know to start that. Smash and Mario Kart 8 tournaments, both sound lovely.

I’m really enjoying Pikmin. I loved the first one but didn’t like the second as much at the time amd never played the third so I may have to go back and give them another try later. I’ve been taking the time to do each area as much as I can before moving on.

I have heard that all Pikmin games are a bit different from each other, so maybe 2nd one just doesn’t suits your taste. No need to force a game you don’t like. Just play the rest. Though, nothing wrong with giving a game another try.

Somehow still on Trails into Reverie, LMAO.

I was planning on tackling the final dungeon during this week, but instead I ended up going go crazy with optional stuff and doing everything that was available in the Reverie Corridor.

    • Went as far into the dungeon as the game allows (midpoint of Stratum 4)
    • Tracked and scanned all missing enemies in Stratum 1-4
    • Completed all Daydreams
    • Completed all Minigames (including all Vantage Masters and Pom opponents, and even that stupid “beach date” minigame)

Doing that alongside doing the remaining events in Crossbell took me most of the week.

I left a save yesterday right in front of the exclamation point that triggers the continuation of the main storyline, so I’ll resume this today and hopefully be done with the main story before the end of the weekend. I heard there’s plenty of post-game content but I’m unsure if I’ll play that right now as well or if I’ll take a break.

Oh, and the VNs I mentioned last week did indeed arrive - this is the second half of “Grisaia Phantom Trigger” and also “Little Busters”, both games are japanese version but include english text, and I’ve already decided to start Grisaia after I’m done with Reveri.

Heh, don’t worry about it. With the games I am currently playing, I am expecting to keep posting these same one for next 5-6 weeks at least. Maybe for a lot longer for DQ XI and MH:W. And it just means you are enjoying the games, so that’s always good.

I still haven’t gotten to any of the VNs you recommended last time (and with my backlog it will be a while before I get to any of those, also when I get that VN itch, I want to play through the Phoenix Wright trilogy first). But I am going to ping you once I do play them.

Looking forward to hear about the VNs next week! 😀

I’m more surprised than anything - I’m not one that usually tries to 100% JRPGs, but for some reason I could not stop going crazy trying to do all the optional content in this one.

Anyway, quick update: Did the final dungeon yesterday, saved right in front of the boss room because it was a getting late and I know it’s going to be a long battle with a ton of cutscenes.

Also, to my surprise, I actually managed to get every single treasure chest in this one! And I’m pretty sure I’ll be getting all profiles as well, the ones missing will likely unlock with the final scenes. Not something you usually do in Trails games without using a guide.

      • Advance Wars really lived up to the hype. I’m on the fence about whether to pick up Advance Wars II, since I haven’t 100% the first one yet.

Edit: To clear up any confusion - yes, I’m a time traveler playing Advance Wars on my DS. I am aware of the remake with both games for Switch. I’m still deciding, but I’ve heard good things.

It’s pretty good, and it’s sorta similar to AoC, with a similar map that’s been split into separate chapters, so it’s a lot less overwhelming imo.

I’ve completed 2 out of 4 campaigns and the DLC on Three House. I’d like to get the rest done eventually but not enough time 😄

Honestly the quality of the Oracle games, especially when compared to Ocarina of Time, is not even close to comparable. There’s a reason that Ocarina of Time is considered by many to be one of the best games of all time.

          Interesting.

Though, one is a 3D game and one is 2D, so there is enough difference that they aren’t competing directly with each other, and can be judged separately, on their own merits.

I plan to play all the older Zelda, it’s just the matter of which order to play them in.
