I’m trying to run Baldurs.Gate.3.GOG.Rip-InsaneRamZes on Steam Deck.I tried both on Lutris with various runners (in this moment I set it on lutris-GE-Proton8-13…) and Steam as a non Steam game with various Proton versions as well (mainly 8 and Expermiental). In any case I got a black screen of the duration of 1 second followed by a crash.
With Lutris (lutris-GE-Proton8-13) I got this error log:
Started initial process 1312 from gamemoderun /home/deck/.var/app/net.lutris.Lutris/data/lutris/runners/wine/lutris-GE-Proton8-13-x86_64/bin/wine /run/media/deck/DeckSD/baldurs-gate-3/drive_c/Baldurs Gate 3/bin/bg3_dx11.exe --skip-launcher

Any help?
FYI: Baldurs.Gate.3.GOG.Rip-InsaneRamZes is the same as DoDi but I downloaded it earlier than their repack.
I’ve been working with the RUNE version, but I have it launching and working successfully from Lutris and command line using the following:
- wine-staging 8.13
- wine prefix with dxvk, vkd3d and vcrun2022
- install windowsdesktop-runtime-6.0.11-win-x64.exe into wine prefix
Hope this helps.
This is probably the solution - dependencies as usual.
Thanks, I installed the RUNE version however is still not working:
-
- (and 3) for some reason my winetricks inside Lutris was old, I updated it and I installed dxvk, vkd3d and dotentdesktop6 (is it only for the launcher, right?)
-
- wine-staging is found on protonup-qt? I can see in Lutris that is using System 8.0 (default) after I installed the previous stuff, however I even changed back to lutris-GE-Proton-13-x86_64.
HI. Wine-staging should be in your distro’s repos. Install that and it should appear as an option in Lutris. With regard to winetricks: again it should be in your distro’s repos. There is also an option in Lutris to specify using your installed version of winetricks. Finally, yes, dotnetdesktop6 is only for the launcher. Cheers!
Thanks, it seems like that wine-staging is already in ge-proton-8+, however still not working.
I was more thinking about trying wine-staging specifically, rather than Proton, as they do have differences. On my system BG3 didn’t work with Proton but did work once I switched to wine-staging 8.13. Of course YEMV!
I don’t know how to install wine staging on steam deck. Maybe it’s only on aur?
Could be. Sorry I can’t be any more help.
