I started designing the Qazimodo in February and just got the first aluminum case from the manufacturer a couple days ago. Very happy with how it turned out.
Terrible idea. Great name and execution.
(And I mean that in the kindest possible way.)
I told my wife you liked the name she came up with and she said “Are you going to give me the credit?”
Tell her no.
I think I did and then she flipped me off. But I might be remembering it wrong.
I literally dont understand keyboard hobbyists, like at this point youre just being different for the sake of being different.
When you hit Q, A, and Z at the same time it spits this out
You guys always kill me because it’s like you come up with a funny idea for a keyboard meme product and then someone spends actual effort mocking it up or making a CAD model and then someone decides to actually make it and you spend real money on it because nobody had the sense to just say “this is actually stupid” somewhere along the way.
that’s really useful!
How does having those 3 keys on the right help?
People kept asking me how I use a keyboard without QAZ so I threw them on there to appease everyone.
That’s so perfect.
i need an adult
So is this a keyboard meant for people who don’t believe in numbers?
Numbers?
This looks sick you did an amazing job!
Thank you!
I get that a small keyboard is nice, and that a numpad is not necessary for everyone, but no numbers at all seems quite drastic, and also no Ctrl or alt just looks very unpractical to work on.
The keys don’t have to be explicitly visible to exist
Wow way to flex that you can type without looking at the keyboard. What next? Show off how you can type with more than your index fingers? Show off.
How do you do the numbers then? And also copy/paste (CRTL+C CRTL-V)
- don’t know OP’s keymapping, but on the default QAZ layout:
- D and K are mod-tap Ctrl (ie. tap for D or K, hold for Ctrl)
- right space is layer-tap 1 (ie. tap for space, hold for Layer 1)
- Layer 1 is the numbers and symbols layer (ex. hold right-space, tap Esc for 1, hold right-space, tap G for %)
- EDIT: and that just covers the hold-taps, if OP adds in full tap-dance or combos or one-shot-mods or custom QMK code, then things can get really funky
- don’t know OP’s keymapping, but on the default QAZ layout:
It takes some getting used to but I’ve been using a 35% for work for almost a year now and I don’t think I can go back.
sub-40 gang 👊
😘
This looks like you asked AI to make a keyboard 😂
What if we’re all just AI
That would be very Weird.
Incidentally, Jerboa continues to use a sans-serif font.
Ah, the perfect keyboard for a quiz on queztals and caziques.
I got like 90wpm with this layout one time.
What keycapps are those?
Akko WOB Building Blocks
Not my bag, (where muh numpad!!!) but looks neat.
Unhinged
Is it named after the hunchback?
It is. My wife came up with the name and she’s very proud of it.
was your PCB done by Kiser?
Haha so I posted my layout from KLE on a Discord server that Noah is on and he sent me a DM asking if he could use the layout in his video. It worked out perfectly because he posted that video as I was starting to design my PCB and I used his template.
his videos have been helpful as hell, I’ve got a PCB at JLC right now because of him
They’re so good! Basically everything I know about PCB design is because of Noah.
Is yours for a personal project?
yep, personal project – half learning how to get away from just using Pro Micros, half just a random challenge – fit a 42 key split ergo into a Minivan case – thus, the tuk-tuk, a 12.75u × 4u size, 42 keys, katana stagger
Nice! Hope to see some pics when it’s done!
