When it prevents you from doing day to day tasks, or even tormenting enough to make you depressed most of the time, then it clearly starts being a disorder. Otherwise, it’s just normal human behaviour.

I think I should emphasize the “clearly” part but yeah, the symptoms can appear from before it being a disorder. If you have any suspicion that you may need help, it’s never hurt to check with professional. After all, having a false positive is better in this case than speculation.

Mine were symptoms before the acronym existed, so yeah. Also, it can definitely be a challenge to find the right mental health professional, so the phrasing’s a bit off. “It’s wise” would be better.

You know, the way inattentive ADHD is described here fits me incredibly well. I was recently diagnosed with it and this actually helps my understand my condition a lot better. I distinctly remember talking to my friends about some weird textures in a room in FF14 and they were just astounded that I even noticed it, now I know why lol

I do this shit all the time. When I’m watching movies, I’ll notice inconsistencies or little mistakes in production, I’ll hear sound bytes that have been used across media. Like, I noticed just yesterday that Memoirs of a Geisha (movie) uses the same seagull soundbyte as the start of the SpongeBob opening song. And I was just sitting on my phone, not paying attention.

I’m definitely a mix of both, because I have some impulsive tendencies with big, exciting decisions. And stuff like this is helping to convince me that I may need to see a doctor about it for some help managing it.

Yeah I will impulsively pick up hobbies and buy into them as well. I’m not sure how much a doctor could help with that sort of behavior tho? That seems more like something you’d want a therapist to help with.

Side note, when you’re watching something again, try looking where the piece isn’t focusing your attention. I don’t mean just in mysteries or similar, I mean take in the extras and see the world around the focus. Many times, it might take you out a bit, but you just might catch something entertaining. Personally, having enjoyed doing some work as an extra, I like seeing the normal people on set. Most of the time, they’re doing what they’re asked to, but every so often, there’s a gem: a little kid can’t help but look at the camera, or someone misses their mark, or there’s a Starfucks cup the crew forgot. 🤓

More like always been our starter pokémon, it’s just wayyy easier to notice the more dystopian capitalism gets considering ADHD is like the antithesis of the neurology of a “successful capitalist”

It really sucks to live in a world where your strengths are difficult to utilise.

I have a lot of talent for a lot of things, and enjoy pursuing what interests me, which is usually beneficial for others.

Nobody wants to pay me to do it though.
