I’ve just started playing a bit after 6 months absence or so and was wondering what people are playing and having fun with. Are the upcoming balance changes going to change much up for you?
Since I have been playing a Signet Power Reaper Open World Build with Greatsword and Axe+Warhorn on my main for ages, I really enjoyed to add a Celestial Harbinger Open World Build with Staff and Pistol+Focus to my arsenal. I love how different those specs play.
Also my Reveneant which I used to play as a Celsetial Renegade with Shortbow now has a Power Vindicator Build with Greatsword as an alternative which also plays very differently. I guess, I like variety (as in I decide to try something new and not ArenaNet changes stuff that wasn’t broken).
As for the Upcoming Balance Changes … I really hope that they reconsider some of the changes, e. g. Scourge.
I love playing Cele builds. They feel so powerful yet versatile! Definitely would be interested in checking out that Cele Harb build if you’ve got a gw2skills link?
My build is very similar to the Celestial Harbinger Open World Build on GuildJen. I’m running Focus instead of Warhorn and I have slightly adjusted the traits:

At the moment I enjoy playing Daredevil pistol/pistol in PvE. It is rather satisfying spamming Unload :D I have almost the same build in PvP, except of using Unload, I use Sneak Attack to bleed my opponents to death, then Black Powder and dodge to stealth. Repeat XD
You actually mean Daredevil and not Deadeye?
Daredevil, yes :D
was surprised too, but after looking it up think was Daredevil. As I understand it, Black powder make a smoke field, doing a leap finish in a smoke field give 3 seconds of stealth, and daredevil have access to leap finisher on dodge.
Yes, that’s the combination for PvP. Black powder, leap out use sneak attack and black powder. Repeat
In open world I’ve been having fun playing dagger-dagger condition daredevil. The amount of sustain I get combined with all the evades makes me basically unkillable in most environments. :D
I find pure condition builds too slow in Open World. Especially when you go to Core Tyria Zones where a Power Build pretty much one-shots everything and is off to the next target while a Condition Build is still ramping up its damage. Not to mention weapon racks and other environment targets which are still pretty much immune to condition damage in Core Tyria Zones.
That’s very true. Although, I would argue that a too strong build takes fun out of fights in open world. For me the fun is in using my abilities just at the right time to evade and survive ridiculous situations, adventuring in an environment that actually feels dangerous.
I do need to create and try out a proper power build at some point… Maybe on my Reaper once I manage to level my necro.
Power Reaper is almost ridiculously strong in Open World. I still think Necromancers kinda earned the right to have such a strong build. I played a Necromancer “Main” (I’m an Altoholic) from launch and I still remember the days when Necromancers where kicked from Dungeon Groups, because they were considered to be dead weight.
These days mostly enjoy Quickness Herald, and condi Firebrand. Not given it much thought before, but seems like I really like quickness.
Didn’t pay much attention to changes that affected these, but know that I should probably make a new healer as sounds like Heal Scourge, is going to be hit hard.
Nice! Yeah I’ve been the same in past having enjoyed Quickbrand, Quickness Herald, and Quickness Scrapper.
Thinking I might branch out a bit more though and try some elite specs I’ve never tried before
Very understandable, I try out different ones too, as is fun to try out new mechanics and skills. See above that you seem interested in the Harbinger, and that’s a fun one at least when I tried it around release of EOD, so that’s probably a fun one.
I’ve been playing a lot of Power Berserker lately. It’s still more of a glass cannon build than I’m used to on a warrior, but it’s really fun if you can keep executing those bursts over and over. I’m curious to see how the changes to rifle impact the build. It would be good having a solid ranged option.
I play everything, but I’m especially enjoying heal alacrity tempest lately. Fractals go so smoothly.
This is very timely for me.
I got burnt out last November and haven’t touched GW2 since. But lately I’m getting the itch again.
Same here.
Playing any other games in the mean time?
Burnouts is quite common if you rush through the gameplay. That’s why I always try to take it slow and just enjoy the journey :)
I’ve been playing since just before HoT, friend, I’ve taken most of it slow, but occasional burnout is just part of the game for me.
Honestly the biggest thing that led to this one was that I’ve been working towards Bolt…only to find out that I can’t just use my tyrian exchange vouchers for dungeon currency to buy gifts I need. Now I need to finish the specific dungeon’s explorable path 5 times before they’ll even sell it to me.
And since I mostly play solo and dungeons are so buggy, I basically just gave up on it, which left me pretty aimless.
All reaper all the time, soul spiral go brrrrrr.
Haven’t changed my builds in forever. Since I have a tonne of alts but generally only play my main, my main has gotten every single possible build
