Apparently we have:
- $2M to give to Staples so that they can run the (allegedly already profitable?) ServiceOntario business. Staples is not a Canadian company; it’s owned by an American PE firm.
- $300M for a parking lot for a luxury spa, for a total of over $650M which is on top of a nearly-free lease on the land. Therme is not a Canadian company, it’s owned by the same people who bought the US wing of Deco labels–the part Doug was running into the ground.
- Almost $250M in early-termination fees for the Beer Store, which is also not a Canadian company; it’s owned by two international brewing conglomerates.
- $3.2M over four years in salaries for the sixteen additional ministers Ford recently promoted
But can we spend $2M to fix the immediate issue with the Science Centre’s roof? Nope, no money for that. Can we find $6M to fix it completely? Nope. But they can spend $75M on shuttle buses because they don’t want to spend $60M to fix the bridge into the building.
Tell me again how Conservatives are good with money? I mean, other than giving public money to private companies and/or their own pockets?

Why on earth would you expect a city to jump in and fix a provincial issue???
I never understand why so many people are constantly making excuses for provincial governments who don’t do their job.

Fair, I may have misunderstood. I assumed the only way the city could help would be financially.
You likely had something else in mind.
If it’s one thing Conservatives hate, it’s science. And facts. And healthcare. And the environment. And education.
And anyone who isn’t a conventional, heterosexual man.
Science has no place in Toronto!
nooo!!
Trouble is there was no farewell, it was here one day and the following day it was closed.
Guess with all the Green Belt fiasco that happened not to long ago, the developers want land and Ford more then likely promised them the Ontario Science Center lands for condo and housing development.
