    @[email protected] only somewhat indirectly related to cryptocurrency in that it is just part of the broader trend of making it possible to track all monetary transactions but I definitely don’t want to see this become a thing.

    Besides the privacy implications, I could see it meaning you need to own a non-rooted mobile phone using one of the major operating systems to pay for anything. We already see that kind of thing with other things so going cashless seems like it could easily lead to that becoming universal for all payments. #cashless #cryptocurrency

      The article points out many instances where cash must be kept as an alternative to Fintech dominance, among other reasons.

      Cryptocurrencies also play a part as an alternative, hence me posting, although they’re not mentioned.

        Cryptocurrencies play a crucial role in pushing back against the financial surveillance of cashless systems because they allow for a bottom-up approach.

        We also need to demand serious privacy engineering in the #crypto projects we participate in.

        Digital currencies without privacy are just another tool for financial surveillance.
