Awesome things about libro that I like

  • No DRM. You can download the books as you please and store them outside the app!
  • Credits don’t expire, and can be gifted.
  • You can support your local bookstore if they are on the app.
  • There’s also occasional free audiobooks that the libro.fm drops. For Juneteenth there was a few that they gave out for free.

Do you know if it is a US-only/prioritizing service or not? I’m currently looking for an e-book/audiobook service which has a decent library outside of US (or any major EU countries) and most of the options are noticebly lacking in that.

What country if you don’t mind me asking? I know libro is trying to expand outside the US, but unsure what their coverage is. I do know some ebook/audiobook services in different countries around the world

Not at all! I am in Serbia currently.

The tricky bit is - I am not Serbian myself and would prefer to read mostly in English (it would be great if the service had books/audiobooks in other languages, too, but English is my primary focus for now).

Bookmate.com might be your best bet, alongside potentially buying a digital library card from places that allow out of state card purchases. I know Fairfax Virginia allows it for a yearly fee.

Huh, I didn’t know that there is an option to purchase a digital library card, will be looking into that and bookmate. Thanks!
