Do you guys have any recommendations for me to switch to? I already subscribed to Gamers Nexus, Hardware Unboxed and JayzTwoCents.

Thanks in advance :)

Michael Reeves is the special kind of wacky where I’d equally believe “he just paid for a brand new orphanage” and “he just accidentally burned down the orphanage”. Love it

I’d also suggest adding Colin Furze and Hacksmith to the “wacky builds” creators. The Secret Santa things between them and a few other creator channels are a great way to find even more.

Can you comment on Louis Rossman ? First time I’ve heard someone say that. I’m curious to know if people really think that of him.

I do get the sense from being a bit of a long time viewer that he’s a bit up his own ass, especially as his channel has moved more towards a talking head style, but he gives me the same vibes as a single issue voter concerned only with right to repair. But when called out he seems to take criticism much better than most (especially LTT) and is willing to put his money where his mouth is. However, I only semi-regularly watch his videos so ymmv

I also rarely watch his videos as they tend to be a lot of angry rambling, but his takes on right to repair stuff as well as right to privacy are 10/10

Jayz2Cents is awful. Please don’t watch that stuff. They’re so long winded and lacking in… actual information. Add Digital Foundry, Hardware Canucks.

So a good replacement for LLT then? /s. But seriously, that’s not what his channel is about.

Hostile work environment stuff aside, I prefer LTTs content to J2C, even with the random factual errors.

I stopped watching Jay when… I think it was the 2080ti came out for over 1000 dollars? and he basically told people to stop complaining and just buy it.

My two absolute favourites right now

Bringus Studios - this is pretty close to classic LTT episodes (he did “I bought a SEGA PC?!?!?!!” before Linus did) and often involves trying to upgrade hardware that wasn’t designed to be upgraded or installing software on systems not meant for it (turning a PS4 into a steam deck for example) all with a delightful layer of jank to it So kinda like the videos with Jake

A little more different but equally brilliant channel is

MattKC - his most popular video is him trying to get a game to fit into a qr code (brilliant) but also extends to him buying and fixing a Wii he bought for 1$ in Japan or trying to build the fastest Windows 98 compatible PC and modding old consoles So kinda like the videos with Alex

Digital Foundry does really great deep-dives on the software side of things. A channel like GamersNexus is great for getting a sense for how a new CPU or GPU stacks up to other models. DF is great for looking at game performance in a specific title, and which settings to tweak for optimized performance with various graphics cards.

Edit: and they do the same for major console titles, plus cross-platform and cross-gen comparisons.

I second this recommendation. The level of detail they go into is insane. I also like their retrospective vids they do from time to time.

For more of the entertainment cool shit side of LTT, I love DIY Perks. He does a lot of really cool techy builds

Hardware Canucks is very good for peripheral reviews. Haven’t watched them in a hot minute since I’ve been happy with my audio and mouse/keyboard setup, but they go the extra step of doing things like showing recordings from different headsets and how well a mouse glides.

Something Canadian, that’s refreshing. It always annoyed me the LTT was Canadian but always put prices in American…

RandomGamingInHD is pretty neat. Like seeing people push real budget stuff to its absolute limits. LowSpecGamer used to be my go to for that, but it seems he completely changed thr channels directions and purged the old videos.

LGR and 8-bit Guy both do a lot of cool stuff with old and obsolete hardware.

      +1 for RGiHD

Not the most in depth performance metrics, but gives a good look at what kind of performance you can get out of older/cheaper hardware.

I can’t believe no one mentioned MrMobile. I really enjoy his format and editing style. He mostly does phone and watch reviews, but sometimes sprinkle in laptops, and his When Phones were Fun series were awesome.

LowSpecGamer originally does what the channel name suggests, low spec hardware reviews and game on them with jank methods. However, he has since privated his previous videos, and transitioned to history and stories behind tech products.

One other channel that is more to the side of tech “explanation” is Technology Connections. The subjects of his videos are not necessarily “tech” we see in tech channels, but more appliance tech and the history or how it works. His channel is caption friendly too!

Level1techs, Chris Titus, Servethehome, Craft computing, Lawrence systems, 8-bit guy, look mom no computer, Mark Rober, Austin Evans, mkbhd, ijustine, jerryrigeverything, technology connections.

Those I could come up with relatively fast without checking my subscriptions in freetube.

Also some rocket tech because rockets are cool:

Pbs space, Xyla Foxlin, air command rockets, everyday astronaut, Scott Manley, Marcus House
