I think this is the major feature that proton is missing that Google has. Given how big proton has become, I’d like to suggest proton to implement something like this for the ultimate Google like experience but with a trusted company.

Not a huge fan of this. I distinctly do not want:
- To be tied to Proton if they really fuck up. I use my own domains that are portable. I use Proton Pass aliases for throw away accounts I could go without.
- To not be able to secure my accounts with separate emails/usernames and long distinct passwords (or better yet passkeys) for each service. I don’t use Proton Pass for password management.
- To provide data points linking my online activities by not using separate emails/usernames.
I had a more new users (for example people who want to migrate from Google) in mind. Yes this is a privacy issue but I’d say this makes proton more mainstream and good for ex-Googlers.
I think proton would need to get considerably more mainstream for this to happen, no?
Besides, with password manager it is only marginally less convenient than using the “log in with …”
People need to stop trusting in Proton so much. You shouldn’t get tied to a company. Any company can go corrupt any second. We have open source self hosted solutions like OpenID.
This feature is (in my opinion) very bad when you think a bit longer about it.

You add a dangerous single point of compromise to your accounts. When your Proton account is compromised, the attacker will have access to all other accounts that you have linked, without resetting the password as they can login with the credentials they just gained.

I agree with the others here, do NOT have everything in the same basket. I know it is very convenient to have everything in one place but one thing why Google is such a pain is the monopoly and the vendor lock (you can call it ecosystem but lets be real, it is a vendor that locks you into the products). This also comes back to my first point, single point of compromise.

Yes Proton is build for privacy, even is now switching to be a foundation with solid share holder rules etc. but we do not know where Proton will be in 10 years (it is like with governments, do not give them the tools to control you just because they are nice now, they can change). If Proton would change into a more data collection company/foundation they would have access to many more data points. All webpages/services you linked your proton account with, track pixels etc.
Let’s beat Google by being more respectful to users privacy and not by just copying them, let’s be better!

This is antithetical to everything Proton stands for, not to mention it completely negates the point of SimpleLogin.
