I have an old hp pavilion dv6 and I installed windows 7. Then i tried installing Ubuntu 24.04 and the USB wouldn’t boot, it just showed “GRUB” in the top left of the screen. I tried with another USB and the same issue emerged.
A. I would try another method, like Ventoy [for Windows/Linux] Rufus [Win],
dd
[Unix], (Balena) Etcher [Unix], or (Gnome) Disks [Linux]B. For the case you didn’t know I’ll mention it’s probably not a good idea to connect Windows 7 (<3) to the internet; but, if you knew, you probably know what’s you’re doing.
How did you make the USB?
ubuntu disk image writer
Maybe try a different program. It might not use the right partitioning or boot scheme.
yes, ill try using balena etcher this time
Tried Balena and it still didn’t work, although it worked on another laptop.
Maybe try Rufus and make sure you use MBR for compatibility?
It seems Rufus is only for windows
