You know the phrase I’ve heard more in the #Fediverse than ANYWHERE else?
“just my 2 cents”
I think this sums up the culture here pretty well. People just LOVE to tell you how you’ve got it wrong. This ESPECIALLY applies to posts that aren’t even TRYING to be opinionated. There is just this vocal contingent (sometimes german? always male) that is hell bent on making sure there isn’t “Someone wrong on the internet”
See if you can help yourself and not critique ;-) I certainly don’t want it

If you don’t want to interact with people, stop posting to social media.
It’s so weird how people just go ahead and discuss things when you post them on a public forum. So weird. If I didn’t know better, I’d think this place was even built with public discussion of ideas in mind, but that would be ridiculous.
@[email protected] I think this is another example of the impact of inflation. $0.02 used to get you a measurable (if small) amount of insight.
@[email protected] this xkcd came to mind https://xkcd.com/386/ 😂
@[email protected] I tried Threads recently. Maybe my experience there was similar to your (big instance?) experience here.
I used a tag, and boy everybody piled in to tell me what they thought about it. Obviously without reading the thread for context.
And so I’m thinking these are really social media problems. Or big media problems.
The only way to avoid them is to go small within the large.
Find a few friends, chat about things.
@[email protected] I saw this in the other thread. Oof!
@[email protected] thank you! I need to use these more often
@[email protected] But I’m a white middle-aged CIS male. Surely everybody MUST hear my views on … everything?
:/
You’re so right.
