And I just joined another #Fediverse project (#Matrix) so that I can write about it for a future issue of #thefutureisfederated

LOVING the #Element app - it looks really modern and elegant. And it’s very intuitive and easy to use.

If you have any Matrix rooms to recommend, I’m all ears 🤗

Funny how this blog post of mine from 5 DAYS ago is already out-of-date, as I “only” had 9 Fediverse accounts then: https://blog.elenarossini.com/fediverse-summer-3-lessons/

@[email protected] thank you for the kind words!

I’m doing this to get more friends on here. 99.9% of my real life close friends and family members only use social apps by Big Tech.

And I have a vested interest in having the Fediverse succeed because in a decade’s time my little one will be a teenager. It would be upsetting to see her use toxic platforms by Big Tech. Her worth shouldn’t be associated to the number of followers she has or likes she gets. I’d want her to use healthier social media…

@[email protected] thank youuuu! 🥹 I just wish other parents and grandparents would be more aware of the dangers / toxicity of digital platforms by Big Tech. Most people I talk to are resigned and say “there’s nothing we can do, they’re the standard, everybody uses them.” I find that to be a weak argument and I’m ready to give all my support to healthy alternatives

@[email protected] these are the right attitudes and the high expectations we need to set and stick to. kids are in real danger. adults are in real danger. getting radicalised and racist on facebook, torturing themselves to look like instagram people, torrents of misinformation on twitter, it is a shambles. the fedi takes the corrupt corporate element out right, and that puts it in the commons. where it can be made safe and empowering.
