Ooh, an OG gamer. I like it. So far so normal. Everything you’ve said has been pretty run of the mill 20s to 30s hobbies.

At your current stage of life, do you feel like there’s still more to be explored or that you’ve attained self actualisation?

Oh man, what a question. I really want to change careers. I want to learn to make furniture. It feels more “lasting” than writing code. So yeah, I have more to do.

Oh I’m working on it. I fiddle around in the shop, learning some really basic skills but getting there.

Okay. That’s great. What moment in your life do you think had it been any different, you wouldn’t be where you are today?

Wow, another interesting question. There are so many. I think the night I meet my wife at the instigation of some friends would be one of those. My life certainly changed significantly then.

Really leaning into that “coder wants to become carpenter” stereotype I see ;) It was one of the things I wanted to do growing up, and is still a skill I’d love to develop. I just didn’t have room to do that kind of work until recently hehe…

To be honest, these days I’m wary of turning fun things or hobbies into work. I’m pretty sure that if I ended up building furniture for other people like I have to write code, I’d start hating it too. Coding tends to pay much better anyway haha…
