OTTAWA — Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre is in favour of mandatory, involuntary drug and psychiatric treatment for kids and prisoners who are found to be incapable of making decisions for themselves, he said at a press conference Thursday.

      The uninformed conservative public believes that curing addiction is simply a matter of forcing people not to take drugs until they are no longer addicted. They like the punitive aspect of it, because they see becoming addicted in the first place as a moral failing.

    Pierre Poilievre is borrowing John Rustad’s forced treatment euphemism of locking people up without supports and away from their community.
