I thought you were speaking about politics communities in general, be it Lemmy or Reddit.
If you were focusing on [email protected], then that’s what the point the meme is making: due to the exceptional circumstances, they could have allowed self-posts. Or maybe just created a megathread.

No I was talking about [email protected] and there rule not allowing self posts, but I see where you’re coming from.
Yeah I agree, a mega-thread would have been a good idea. That being said things are heated now and it could be simply because they don’t want to deal with all the nasty comments that are bound to pop up. [email protected] is a good alternative. It’s small enough where the trolls won’t bother, for the most part.
