Holy shit, this company is based in France and they’re publicly doxxing their users in the replies.

I don’t even know what to say, under GDPR they’re extra fucked now.

Because they’ve been so keen on being law-abiding do-gooders this whole time, right.

I mean they should be aware that criminal charges stack up right? They’re not going to get anything good from making their own situation worse by doxxing customers (multiple comments on their profile giving out the email addresses of their customers). That isn’t going to help them and is just going to make it so much worse for them.

I have to imagine that the person or people behind Real Debrid are quite likely slightly delusional. You kinda have to be if you want to start up a piracy business. People who set up these sorts of operations generally go through life under the impression that they’re invincible, that they’ll never get caught, that whatever legal loophole they’ve devised using SovCit logic is going to save them, etc. I very much doubt he cares about stacking up charges, because in his mind he’ll never face them.

That’s a good point, the people who start these kinds of services, especially in countries like France tend to be of the SovCit delusional variety, and they probably do indeed believe they are invincible or won’t get in real trouble for what they’re doing.

Charges don’t stack in France. CNIL is gutless and useless. The worst that could happen to them is a small fine.

They’re not fucked, GDPR is all nice and dandy until it comes to States oppressing people, France has been steadily building DNA files of undesirables and foreigners and they can. ARCOM (formerly HADOPI) harvests insane amounts of personal data but it’s all been made legal because it’s against piracy and piracy is evil so it’s fine. Enforcement of GDPR violations in France is a bad joke, CNIL won’t do shit. They actively conspire with advertisers to make it easier for them to data mine legally, they only fine an infinitesimal fraction of violations, and they’re extremely slow and useless.

Their official excuse is a lack of budget but when the number* of fines you levy is a few dozens even when you get hundreds of complaints about extremely basic stuff like not complying with deletion requests and websites calling Google and other US companies without needing to, the excuse wears pretty thin pretty quickly, there’s ample and very clear precedent, they just don’t care.

Hopefully they will get what they deserve, at the very least get their Trustpilot banned and lose any and all appearance of being a good and not shady business it gives them. Because they are a shady and not legitimate business, they don’t act like one, and their service doesn’t have any practical usage that isn’t related to piracy. Seriously the legal usage of Debrid services is so niche that if that were all you could do with them we probably wouldn’t have them at all.

I was on the subreddit for real-debrid and theres so many ppl praising them still and expecting the service to function like normal after removing their endpoint. Then ppl complaining because they cant add their pirated media, like wtf what did you expect they got busted. Theyre still there but the reason theyre still alive has been burned so, time to jump ship. Off to another place to get my files

The people on that subreddit are sad and pathetic shills, they kiss up to that company and attack anyone who criticizes them and deny the fact that it’s the end for them.

Then they complain that they can’t add their pirated content yet still insist that the service isn’t broken or that it’s still working fine.

There response seems to imply they had no idea theyd been complicit in piracy, as if there was some other use for them.

They would like people to believe that there is some worthwhile usage because they don’t want to get shut down or end up bankrupt if people stop paying for the service. Which despite the amount of people trying to convince others its still working, is dwindling and will dwindle even more once they remove most of the torrents and block most copyrighted media.

When I looked into real debrid years ago I noped out of it real quick after seeing the payment methods and info demanded that made it difficult to try to make the process as anonymous as possible.

Yeah I’d say you dodged a bullet there. I always thought the amount of praise they received was unnatural and suspicious and like they would potentially use people’s information against them since they are crooks after all. I’m glad to see I was right about that, and I don’t feel bad that I didn’t sign up for RealDebrid when everyone was hoping on the hype train for it.

More accurately why are they bothering? Question is what exactly is their end here? This just a “lets have a laugh as our business burns”. Their service was a download manager and torrent downloader… that just seems on par with say the nitros sellers that pretend to think their products are used to make whipped cream.

I get it, the law cracked down on them, they can’t continue to provide the service they were providing, and they know they cannot provide the service that 99.9% of their users use them for. I also get that they aren’t offering refunds because… well their money is about to dry up really fast. But what’s the point of the trolling etc… I have no comprehension of

They should know that it’s not going to help them, especially them trying to accuse all people giving criticism of their service to be fake reviews and attempting to dox them. If anything that’ll hurt them and just end up getting their TrustPilot account banned.

I find it hilarious, that anyone in their right mind (commenters in this thread included), is expecting professional accountability from a sites employees whose only function is to enable illegal piracy, and attempt to thwart any public admission which would get in the way of raking in revenue. I mean cmon people, read the room, lol. You pay for your ticket, and you take the ride, and that’s it.

It astounds me that people are expecting professionalism from somebody whose entire business is built around facilitating a crime. What are their other reviews like? “The staff at the underground dogfighting arena were so rude and have no customer service skills. 2/5, would not visit again.”
