He was the first person that was presented to us as a high-tier intellectual, but still relatable to commoners… unfortunately it took way too much time for us to all find out he’s actually a moron running around investing his dad’s emerald money into random companies until he gets lucky, and a lot of the people who liked him before seem to have sunk cost fallacies on their opinions of him, and of course the average troglodytes who just love anyone with more money than them.
I think a lot of us STEM people had a phase of admiring Elon that we look back on with embarrassment. Some people never grew out of it.
