Ticket prices for this Sunday’s match between Inter Miami and Los Angeles FC are the most expensive for a Major League Soccer game ever, according to TickPick, an online marketplace.
Average prices are around $690 — a 527% increase over the average ticket price of an MLS game, which used to cost $110 before soccer superstar Leo Messi joined the league.
It’s the only game on the West Coast for Messi this season, so every Argentinian within 1000 miles wants to go (that’s clearly hyperbole). Add in global football fans in general plus a small (for Messi) stadium, throw in a high income state, and voila.
They were $400+fees early the morning Miami confirmed his transfer. I guess I’ll watch him play next year.
JFC Who’s paying that!?
Ticket prices for premier league football in the UK are well under £100.
The idea of paying for your family to see a game in the US is eye watering.
