This app doesn’t seem to be as popular in the US as in Europe. But I thought it was pretty amazing how they were able to basically create a collective of retailers and stores that want to sell their day old food rather than throw it in the trash. We REALLY need something like this in the US in every city.
I use the app in the US from time to time. In my area it’s been meh. Some places kind of abuse it by getting rid of “stuff” that isn’t anything they’d properly sell or people would buy. For example one bakery by us throws random things in a pie tin. Other places have somewhat unrealistic pickup times, like nine to eleven pm. It makes sense from the restaurant’s perspective and must work out for someone, but not me.
But I’ve found a few places that are great and seem to engage with the idea in good faith. I love the idea overall.
