Well that’s just fcukibg depressing :(
Prime Minister Anthony Albanese says Labor has shelved plans to pass its contentious nature positive environmental laws before the election.
The decision comes after fierce resistance from West Australian Premier Roger Cook and sections of the mining industry.
Drill, baby, drill!
They really are trying to hand this election to Dutton aren’t they.
Almost every time I look into legislation not passing the greens are involved somehow:
really? blindsided???
So it sat in limbo for a year and fuelled resistance and they’re surprised it was pulled? were they blindsided because they had blindfolds on and weren’t looking at the polls?
Greens need to change their name to useless grey or something, they’ve let more damage to the environment go through than they’ve done saving it by constantly brickwalling labor
We need the cities to go back to labor and let a proper new left wing party be established, one that knows how to compromise to get positive environmental laws passed and block ones that destroy it
Mr Albanese and Labor got elected because of a perfect storm in WA where we had a massive anti-Liberal period. Everyone knows that the storm has mostly passed, but until the WA election next month, we won’t know how much support Labor still really has in WA.
This resistance will be all about not rocking the boat four weeks out from a state election. We learned in 2009 how quickly and powerfully the Mining industry can shift the needle of public opinion on a policy that affects them.
This way, they can bring it back in a few months.
