    Neat idea. Personally, I think a fixed gear bike with a thicker chain would make more sense for this use case.
    A single speed chain breaking isn’t really something that happens, so that redundancy doesn’t come into play often.
    On the other hand, a fixed gear means you can control your speed with your legs and only need the brakes for sudden stops, so the brake pads last 10x as long. And even when your brakes aren’t working, you can still ride the bike and get it to stop.
