And I don’t know why so many people still think they can’t.

If you don’t understand how a line laughing about people dying applied to the reality of this situation is offensive, I really can’t help you.

Likewise, if you don’t understand how art and music have been using harsh and “offensive” language to make valid criticisms of our society for decades, then I really can’t help you. Despite what you said above, it actually sounds like your offended at the song, not at my simple quoting of it. Fair enough, I guess. Plenty of people here may know punk music, but did they miss the whole point?

Like you said, “this is c/politicalmemes”, it’s not that deep…

In any case, I don’t recommend letting offensiveness be something that makes you miss the point of what’s being said. Everything that we’re seeing today is a consequence of the American populace neglecting democracy and policy over 50+ years. We’ve been in an out-of-control corporate, military-industrial oligarchy for a lot longer than 2 weeks. Now the only difference is that the mask is off.

Trump enters his second term with something he never had in the past: a real democratic mandate from the American people (he won both the EC and the popular vote in 2024. So yeah, whatever happens from this point on, America fucking “voted for that guy”. That fact can fill you with existential dread or you can laugh at the absurdity of the whole thing. But if the one unifying goal of the right is to “own the libs” and fill people like us with dread, then I recommend getting tough and rolling with the punches instead.
