In a 6-3 ruling, the justices affirmed the power of state courts to review state laws governing federal elections — a decision that rejects a once-fringe legal theory pushed by Republicans.
Conservative states will just stack their Supreme Courts. Not to say that this isn’t an important, and welcomed, decision. Any impediment is a good impediment when we’re talking about authoritarianism. I’m just cynical.
That’s true, but I’ll gladly take this impediment as a victory. My level of trust in this current Supreme Court, means that I’m pleasantly surprised with the outcome. Had the ruling gone the other way, it would have made the 2024 election such a absolute clown show. Although it probably still will be, only just less so.
