From the (Ukrainian) frontman, Eugene Hutz:
“It’s one of the very few songs I wrote for a girl. I just moved in with my girlfriend in New York. We had a neighbour: an old woman who was always dressed in purple head to toe. She was clearly bonkers. So whenever my girlfriend and I had an argument and she would start screaming at me, I would say: you might as well start wearing purple now.”

Gogol were the most energetic and crazy live show I’ve been to. Love them
Absolutely! Gypsy Punk forever ✊
ETA: Also check out Monotonix. Israeli punk band with similar energy.
Oh, they are positively filthy, I second this rec!
I saw them live in Nashville one time. I think they were on-stage for a total of 1 minute for the entire 45min show. At one point, the guitarist is up on the bar stomping on the kick drum playing a tune, while the actual drummer is laying on the floor in his undies getting a full trash can dumped on him by the frontman. Meanwhile, bassist comes out of nowhere from a balcony on top of the guitarist.
One of the best shows I’ve ever been to.
That sure sounds like an awesome time, I am (benevolently) envious! Monotonix kept me sane throughout my second and third years of working a corporate job…
