I know there are several USB hub dongles that could be used in a similar manner, but what I’m looking for is something that occupies a single USB port and offers 3+ slots for SD and/or microSD cards, letting me browse them all from my computer. Are there any such products? I’m ok with buying off Aliexpress

One solution I’ve seen is using a bunch of those USB adapters and a powered multi-USB hub.

    Cheaper than StarTech.com 4-Slot SD Card Reader - USB 3.1 (10Gbps) SD Card Reader - USB-C SD Card Reader w/Support for SD 4.0, UHS-II (4SD4FCRU31C)

@[email protected] Yup, it’s something that’s been bothering me for a while. I have more cards than USB reader sticks, so I wanted to just get a hub or dock to read many at once.

@[email protected] Yeah, it seems I’ll have to resort to that due to being much cheaper than getting a proper sd-reader hub, as what cmnybo linked above is way beyond what I can spend.

I’m surprised how few options there are out there. I tried looking using the keywords “hub”," “dock”, and even " duplicator" but couldn’t find anything. Hopefully you don’t need to resort to getting a USB hub then just using USB adapters

Is there anything similar under 30 dollars?

        Unlikely.

A decent single SD card reader is going to be in the $15-20 range. You want 3+ in a single package. So the price will be around 3x Plus the extra component costs needed to put them in the same package. Plus the general per-unit increase of costs for making a niche product.

I just use a combo of this sorta stuff, but older:

I’ve had inbuilt readers, cards, mutlihubs and a few adapters fail and a lot of stuff that is just fussy about who it plays with. I now prefer to have a bargain bin of simple options to mcguyer from.

There are 7-in1’s listed on Aamzon that will accept 2xsd & 2xmsd cards but can’t expose all of them at the same time, which s a shame.

A little off topic but I also use two docks similar to this: https://www.amazon.co.uk/RSHTECH-Aluminum-Multifunction-External-Tool-Free-Black-Housing/dp/B07WNPG6KP/

They are attached to my raspberry pi and each allows me to have several TB’s of spinning rush over 2 hdd’s, an sd card plugged in and space for more usb drives or sd cards via the mcguyer method above when needed. Maximize those usb ports :)

Cheapest way might be a small 4 or 8 port USB hub and a couple of packs of these.

USB SD Card Reader for PC, 3 Packs Micro SD Card to USB Adapter, Card Reader for Camera Memory Card Reader, Wansurs Card Reader for Laptop (3 Pack USB2.0) https://a.co/d/35n6aXT)

I haven’t seen any microSD/SD hubs that is with multiple SD ports, but maybe you could consider a USB hub with multiple UBS slots and use separate microSD-to-USB dongles to plug into it? Those are pretty common as are hubs with 3+USB and 1-2 SD slots.

That’s a single slot card reader, I need something with more slots for (micro)sd cards, like a single usb stick with 4 slots for microSD cards, mounting all of them at once

do you mean 4 slots of the same exact type?

Yes. I already have one of those multi-type/universal card readers. That is not what I’m looking for. I need something with several identical slots, either for SD or microSD cards

If you want it for multi write duplication. there are standalone devices like balena etcher pro, or copystars. but not much that acts like mutli pc card mounter

I see a number of promising results if I search the web for “multi sd card reader”. I have no specific recs though, but StarTech is pretty reliable for niche USB products and they have a 4-card reader.

Ends up costing 234 dollars, shipping and taxes included. Way beyond my budget
